The first mandolin soloist to be nominated for a classical Grammy®, Israeli prodigy Avi Avital is a Vancouver fan favourite. He returns with a rare Canadian performance of Pulitzer prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s new Mandolin Concerto, written expressly for Avital. Plus, the VSO performs Beethoven’s dramatic Coriolan Overture, and Dvořák’s rhapsodic Symphony No. 7, under the baton of internationally-acclaimed dynamo Tianyi Lu.
