Written months after the composer’s 18th birthday, Schubert’s exuberant Third Symphony pulses with youthful optimism. Conductor David Bui leads a program filled with verve and enthusiasm, including Bartók’s playful Divertimento for Strings and Grieg’s Holberg Suite, both written for string orchestra.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the conductor and therefore the programme needed to be changed for this weekend’s concerts. We are very grateful that our RBC Assistant Conductor, David Bui, has graciously agreed to step in at the last moment. Schubert’s Third Symphony and Bartók’s Divertimento for Stings will be performed as planned, with the addition of Grieg’s Holberg Suite.
