The New Westminster Symphony Orchestra and Richmond Academy of Dance are delighted once again to collaborate on Dance into Christmas; a festive celebration of all things Christmas that ran for 20 consecutive years starting in the year 2000.. Each year the Richmond Academy of Dance choreographs a seasonal selection of familiar melodies ranging from such well known compositions as the Skaters Waltz to Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride culminating in a spectacular presentation of highlights from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker featuring guest soloists from Les Grands Ballets Canadiens of Montreal. The New Westminster Symphony Orchestra of more than 35 musicians are on hand to accompany the Richmond Academy of Dance on all of the dance routines and for their part they will open and close the concert with medleys of Christmas Carols and songs. There will also be a guest soprano regaling us with songs that it just wouldn’t be Christmas without, and a special reading by a noted actor to put everyone in the festive mood.
